Blue Egg Bakery was mentioned in today’s newspaper (8/22) in the Life section with an article titled, “Parenting a Child with Food Allergies”. (Hurray!)

If you read the article and looked me up, THANK YOU!

One thing I want to make clear–there is no storefront bakery in Larchwood. There have been countless people who drive to Larchwood looking for Blue Egg Bakery just to be turned away (usually at the grocery store or gas station asking for directions!). I have a health-inspected, licensed kitchen that I bake in and then make deliveries to Sioux Falls.

You can find my gluten-free, dairy-free and egg-free cupcakes at Oh My Cupcakes! (4th & Main) on Mondays from 11am-2pm. Starting in November or December when they open, my cakes and cupcakes will be available at Pomegranate Market (57th & Louise). Otherwise, please call me to place an order for cupcakes or a cake. *605-360-9776

Hello friends!

I received an email from a beloved customer of mine last night. She wrote an article for the Argus Leader about food allergies that will be coming out in Sunday’s paper (8/21).

Here is her email:

“Hello everyone!  The Argus Leader will be printing a story this Sunday regarding the high price of feeding food allergy people.   Although the prices are higher, I do believe the quality is better – if you are buying organic or a trusted brand name with safe lines.  I could go on and on!  I just hope the story reads well and will spread the news about more-common-than-ever food allergies.  Our son will be in preschool this year and 2 out of 10 children have food allergies in his class.  One-fifth of the kids have food allergies and they are 4 and 5 years old!  So sad.  I wish I could take the food allergy and let him grow up with *no worries* about foods.

The Argus Leader also has scheduled an online chat with Dietitian Melissa Kruce (Sanford Children’s) on Tuesday, 8-24-10, beginning at 12:30.  If you go to www.argusleader.com around noon on Tuesday, there should be a link on their front page to click on.  Just a click and you will be able to join the online chat that will begin promptly at 12:30.   I have not talked to Melissa Kruce, but would assume she will try to answer any questions out there regarding food allergies, avoidance, healthy eating, substitutes for allergens, etc.  Thank you, Melissa, we always have questions!

Question #1: Are Mondays a good day for you to come and buy a cupcake downtown (Oh My Cupcakes)? Why or why not? Day of the week, location, hours, I WANT BREAD, etc.

Question #2: Do you prefer to have random flavored cupcakes (at Oh My Cupcakes!) as I’ve been doing, or would you prefer there be a set menu each month?

Blue Egg Bakery’s gluten-free (also some dairy-free and egg-free) cupcakes will now be served at Oh My Cupcakes (4th & Main) EVERY MONDAY! There will only be 3 dozen available, so when they’re gone, you’ll have to wait until the next Monday (or you can call me to order a dozen!). Remember Oh My Cupcakes closes daily at 2pm.
