Out of all of the frostings I’ve tried, this one is the best, in my opinion. I’m not a fan of shortening-based frosting, since it leaves a greasy film on the roof of your mouth. Since my kids are both gluten-free and dairy-free, I needed a great recipe that they can have too, so I tweaked my favorite recipe and came up with this one. Enjoy!
Dairy-Free Frosting
1 stick Earth Balance butter substitute
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk, any kind
1 t. vanilla
Whip until light and fluffy.
Do you have any frosting recipes sugestions that exclude corn as well. All the frosting recipes I’ve come across have powdered sugar and I have yet to find and order a corn starch free powdered sugar.
Hi Becky,
I haven’t tried this yet, but here is my best suggestion: Buy some baker’s sugar (very fine sugar…you can find this with the regular sugar, usually on the top shelf) and put some in a food processor with some potato starch. I don’t know how much starch to use, so I would just keep adding it in slowly until it looks like powdered sugar. Good luck!
p.s. Let me know if you try it and how it turned out! I’m planning on trying it, but it won’t be for a couple of weeks.
